Odisha to Provide Uniforms, ID Cards and Smartphones to Mission Shakti Staff from April 1

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced that Mission Shakti community support staff across the state will be provided with uniforms, identity cards, and smartphones starting April 1, in a move aimed at strengthening grassroots implementation of women-centric welfare programmes.

The initiative will cover around 46,000 Mission Shakti workers, including Community Resource Persons (CRPs), who play a key role in mobilising women’s self-help groups and implementing livelihood and empowerment schemes at the village level.

According to officials, CRPs will be given smartphones to improve digital connectivity and enable effective use of the LokOS mobile application under the Lakhpati Didi programme, which focuses on enhancing household incomes through sustainable livelihood activities.

The provision of uniforms and identity cards is intended to give the community support staff a distinct professional identity, improve coordination with local administrations, and enhance public trust. The uniforms will feature a unique Odia artisanal design, reflecting the state’s cultural heritage.

Officials said the move will improve service delivery, monitoring, and data reporting while reinforcing the role of Mission Shakti workers as the backbone of women-led development initiatives in Odisha.
