Bhubaneswar: The Antigen Test kit produced first time in Odisha, called Rapid Antigen Test kit IMCOV-AG has got an official nod from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), Bhubaneswar.
The Covid testing kit, that is supposed to be used for testing people by collecting nasopharyngeal swab samples, has been created by IMGENEX India Pvt. Ltd, Bhubaneswar in collaboration with RMRC.
This kit has been developed with a budget of Rs one crore, and will be available in market in two months, told IMGENEX India founder Dr Sujoy Singh. the kit was developed first in June 2021, as stated by the founder.
The ICMR has approved a total number of 150 Rapid Test Kits (Antigen) since the time of the Covid -19 outbreak, in addition to this ICMR has also revalidated around 31Testing Kits.
All kinds of Test Kits for Covid-19 such as rapid antigen, antibody and RT-PCR kits are approved before being used. The IMGENEX India Pvt. Ltd, Bhubaneswar first started working on this kit and RMRC Bhubaneswar contributed the intellectual backing in terms of in-house testing and verification. Thereafter, the proposal was submitted for approval. According to the existing protocols, the ICMR examined the kit with the help of the third party and published the approval letter on January 27,” informed by Dr. Sanghamitra Pati, Director ICMR-RMRC, Bhubaneswar.
