PM Expands Ayushman Bharat Scheme Providing Free Treatment For Elderly above 70

Bhubaneswar: Prime minister Narendra Modi has expanded the health scheme Ayushman Bharat to the all the senior citizens above the age 70 irrespective of their income. Prime minister has launched the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Card to the beneficiaries by launching the scheme on 29 October on the occasion of Ayurveda Day. This card will help to cut out of pocket the health expenses of the elderlies at or above the age of 70.

On this day PM launches various other initiatives relating to Ayurveda and traditional medicines to validate and promote herbal medication. At the All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, PM inaugurated and laid foundation stone for many new, innovative projects on 29 October.

Under the expansion of central government ‘s flagship scheme Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM- JAY), PM Narendra Modi has announced that all the senior citizens above the age of 70 will be eligible for availing the PM- JAY scheme regardless of their income.

During his address Prime minister has criticized the government of Delhi and West Bengal for not implementing the scheme due to political reasons. He said, ” I apologize to the elderly people in Delhi and West Bengal as I can understand their pain but I cannot help them providing the health benefits as others in the country. Because their respective governments are more indulged in politics than public interest.
