Bhubaneswar: Before just two days of the Odisha Panchayat Elections, the Odisha Police has seized a large cart of maist materials in Malkangiri district on Sunday. These materials also include explosives items such as 5 guns, a tiffin bomb, pressure IED, 2 detonators, electric wire and equipment to make a landmine. These were seized in the Chitrakonda block. as stated by the SP of Malkangiri district Nitesh Wadhwani.
The materials were confiscated during a collective operation conducted by SOG, DVF and BSF in the Nagamanjeri forest area that is coming under Jantri Panchayat in the Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district.
As it is reported that security personnel are carrying out many search operations and combing or domination operations in the swabhiman area considering the panchayat polls.
It has come to light that the moist had planted these explosive items under the ground intending to target the security personnel. The police personnel were in the operation and to supervise the situation owing to the upcoming panchayat elections and its peaceful attainment situation when they got the information on it. According to the personnel, the operation team moved to the spot and seized the high explosive equipment planted by the moist gang buried under the ground.
Police have been keeping rigorous surveillance on the action and movement of the ultra gangs due to the panchayat polls. Combing operations have in full swing in this area to make free, fair and peaceful polling. After the expropriation, an extended search operation is going to be done.
