President’s Rule Imposed in Manipur

Bhubaneswar: President’s rule has been imposed in Manipur post Chief Minister of Manipur N Biren Singh resigned from his position on 13 February. The CM has resigned from his position on 9 February and with the situation of a prolonged  violence and enrage in the state. After meeting the home minister Amit Shah, the CM has stepped down from the position and there were speculation regarding the next of the BJP. As it was thought that the ruling party would not opt for a president’s rule in Manipur rather appoint another leader to take over as the CM. But the decision of the BJP to impose President’s rule in Manipur is confirmed.

Biren Singh has been stepped down after 21 months hit out as he was losing support within the parties and allies as well. he has been accused of allegedly directing to instigating the ethnic violence in the state. The honourable Supreme Court has ordered a forensic investigation of the leaked audio tapes where the feature of Biren Singh stating on the instigation of violence on his direction.

This step of imposing President’s rule in Manipur has finally been taken after days of hurddles amongst the BJP supporters, leaders of Manipur over no consesus on who should be succeeding Biren Singh.
