Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya Sangathan (OAVS) is facing a significant shortage of teaching staff, with 1,829 positions currently vacant across Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), according to official information.
Authorities said the recruitment process is currently underway to fill the vacancies and strengthen academic support in the state-run schools.
To minimise disruption to classroom teaching, the government has appointed 1,170 guest teachers across various OAVs to ensure that students’ learning continues despite the staffing gaps.
Officials noted that students from these institutions have continued to perform well academically. Over the past three years, 62 Class XII students from OAVs have qualified for higher studies in premier institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the National Institutes of Technology (NITs).
The OAV system was established to provide quality English-medium education in rural areas of Odisha, and authorities say filling the vacant posts remains a priority to maintain academic standards.
