The Benefits of Ash Guard: a medicinal vegetable

Bhubaneswar: Ash guard is a vegetable that has ample health benefits. As our diet has very crucial part to play in keeping our body and mind happy and healthy. The prominent spiritual leader Sadhguru has lately said the benefits of Ash guard which is otherwise known as dudhi, petha, and winter melon.

He has said that ash guard is very significant for the wellness of our body and to maintain a good source of energy. It is a very common and easily available vegetable in India. This vegetable is very deeply involved in our culture and Hindu religion as this vegetable is offered to Goddess Durga during the time Dashera festival when the goddess is worshipped for nine consecutive days. This fruit is considered auspicious.

It is used in Indian food recipes at a varied way, stir fried snack ,  soup, curry, dal-curry etc. Ash guard is also consumed in its raw form as juice and salads. It is widely accepted as per the rich nutritional value and high water content though low in calories. So the medicinal value is very high in this veggie.

It is very good for hydration as it is rich in water content . The dietary fibre in ash guard helps to retain the digestive system and gut heath sound. It maintains blood sugar level. It boosts brain health, enhances immune system by consumed as raw juice every morning.

Ash guard is suggested to consume raw each day either in the form of salad with lemon or as juice. It will work as a detoxification for the body. Having mentioned that, those who have cold or sinus issues can have it with a tinge of pepper powder or a spoon full of honey as it has a high cooling effect.
