Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police conducted a major night enforcement drive across Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on August 26, targeting drunk driving, illegal liquor, drug-related activities, modified silencers and other offences.
In Cuttack, police detected 90 drunk-driving cases and seized 90 vehicles, including 21 four-wheelers and 69 two-wheelers.
During the operation, police also detected two Excise cases and seized 35 litres of liquor. Two cases involving modified silencers were also detected, while four mobile phones were recovered.
In Bhubaneswar, the crackdown resulted in 122 drunk-driving cases and the seizure of 122 vehicles. The seized vehicles included 49 four-wheelers, eight three-wheelers and 65 two-wheelers. Police also collected ₹79,500 in MV/OUP fines.
During night patrols, police seized two sand-loaded Hywas, detected Excise and modified-silencer violations, and arrested three persons allegedly found consuming liquor in secluded places.
A total of 336 Cadet Sub-Inspectors were deployed during the enforcement operation, giving them practical exposure to field policing and night patrol procedures.
Odisha Police said intensified night enforcement drives will continue across the state to curb violations, prevent crime and strengthen road and public safety.
