Bhubaneswar: Electronics have become an essential part of modern economies, powering sectors ranging from communication and healthcare to transport, finance, manufacturing and digital infrastructure.
From smartphones and automobiles to telecom networks and industrial systems, electronics are driving technological advancement and economic competitiveness. Strengthening domestic component manufacturing is therefore a key step towards improving technological resilience, economic security and self-reliance.
India’s electronics manufacturing sector has recorded significant growth over the past decade. Electronics production rose from around ₹1.9 lakh crore in 2014–15 to ₹13.11 lakh crore in 2025–26.
During the same period, electronics exports increased from more than ₹38,000 crore to ₹4.24 lakh crore, reflecting the sector’s expanding role in India’s manufacturing and export landscape.
With this foundation in place, the next focus is on deepening domestic component manufacturing, increasing value addition and strengthening supply-chain resilience through the Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme.
The initiative aims to further develop India’s electronics ecosystem and strengthen the country’s position in global electronics manufacturing.
