Bhubaneswar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday appointed Nitin Nabin (45) as its new National Working President, with the party’s Parliamentary Board taking the decision with immediate effect.
One of the youngest leaders to be elevated to the party’s top organisational tier, Nabin’s appointment signals BJP’s continued emphasis on generational transition and organisational consolidation ahead of key electoral battles.
Born in Patna, Nitin Nabin is the son of late Nabin Kishore Prasad Sinha, a veteran BJP leader who played a significant role in strengthening the party’s base in Bihar. Carrying forward his father’s political legacy, Nabin has emerged as a prominent face of the BJP’s Bihar unit.
A five-time MLA, Nabin currently holds the Road Construction portfolio in the Bihar government, a department considered crucial for infrastructure development and governance delivery in the state. Known within party circles for his organisational skills and administrative experience, he has steadily risen through the ranks over the years.
Party leaders said Nabin’s elevation reflects confidence in his ability to bridge organisational strategy with governance experience. His appointment is also seen as an attempt to strengthen coordination between the party’s national leadership and state units, particularly in politically significant regions such as Bihar.
With this move, Nitin Nabin joins a select group of leaders entrusted with steering the BJP’s organisational affairs at the national level, marking a significant milestone in his political career and reinforcing the party’s focus on youthful leadership combined with political experience.
