PM Modi Highlights Digital, Self-Enumeration Features in Census 2027

Bhubaneswar: During the 133rd episode of Mann Ki Baat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasised the significance of the upcoming Census of India 2027, describing it as the world’s largest enumeration exercise with a major digital transformation.

He noted that Census 2027 will offer a markedly different experience compared to previous rounds, as data collection will be conducted through digital platforms. This shift is expected to improve efficiency, accuracy, and ease of participation.

A key feature highlighted by the Prime Minister is the option for self-enumeration. Citizens will be able to submit their details online up to 15 days before the official census staff visits their homes. This allows individuals to complete the process at their convenience.

Upon successful submission, participants will receive a unique identification code via mobile or email. This ID can then be presented to the enumerator during the household visit for verification, streamlining the process further.

The initiative reflects the government’s push toward digital governance and citizen-centric service delivery, making participation in the census more accessible, flexible, and efficient.
