Shivraj Singh Chouhan Chairs High-Level Meeting On Resource Conservation Following PM Modi’s Appeal

Bhubaneswar: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan chaired a high-level meeting at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi with senior officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Ministry of Rural Development and the Department of Land Resources following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for prudent use of national resources.

During the meeting, the minister stressed the need for austerity and efficient resource utilisation amid prevailing global economic and geopolitical uncertainties.

Chouhan stated that foreign visits by ministry officials would be undertaken only when absolutely necessary and that efforts should be made to conduct most official meetings through virtual platforms.

He also urged citizens to support the broader national mission by preferring indigenous products and adopting a balanced and responsible lifestyle.

The Union Minister announced that a ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ would be launched to encourage balanced and prudent use of chemical fertilisers in agriculture, with the objective of protecting soil health and promoting sustainable farming practices.

He further said the use of metro rail services and public transport would be encouraged within the ministry as part of fuel conservation and environmentally responsible governance measures.

Officials discussed strategies related to resource efficiency, sustainable agriculture and administrative cost optimisation during the review meeting held at Krishi Bhavan.
