Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar recorded the highest temperature in Odisha at 38.2°C on Friday afternoon, according to weather data released at 2:30 PM. The sharp rise in temperature, coupled with high humidity levels, caused intense discomfort across the capital city.
Balasore registered 37.8°C, while Chandbali recorded 37.4°C. Sambalpur reported 36.4°C as several parts of the state continued to witness hot and humid weather conditions throughout the day.
The India Meteorological Department has warned that heatwave conditions are likely to persist over the coming days. Authorities have advised residents to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during afternoon hours, remain hydrated and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Meanwhile, the weather agency has forecast an early onset of the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and adjoining areas. Meteorologists say the progress of the monsoon could eventually bring relief from the prevailing heat if conditions continue to develop favourably.
