New Delhi: Celebrating 25 years of creative impact, Pearl Academy took forward its collaboration with FDCI, and offered a unique platform to the budding designers to showcase their creations at the FDCI Amazon India Fashion Week today at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. Portfolio is the launch platform for graduating students of Pearl Academy marking the entry of these promising designers into the professional world. This year almost 400 students from across Delhi and Noida campus and selected students from Mumbai and Jaipur displayed their best creations.
The theme of this year’s portfolio was Future of Fashion. The design collections on the ramp introduced thematic inspiration of individual interpretations and concepts. Every collection had a unique idea and well-crafted thought behind it. This year, the budding designers explored their creative ideas through design concepts based on fashion sustainability, traditional Indian craft, fashion sub-culture, individual design identity in sync with the dynamic and ever evolving fashion trends. Final year students of Fashion styling & Image Design conceptualized and created the costumes for “The Black Swan”. The performance fuses classic ballet with street play and was themed around body positivity and gender. The concept ‘Fashion as a voice for Social Activism’ was scripted and directed by 2 students of Fashion Media Communication. Colors, fabrics and forms were picked up by the students, with a lot of detail to beautifully marry the subtle dance form with strong contemporary breakout sequence.
