Odisha to Launch Skill Training Program for Subhadra Beneficiaries to Boost Economic Empowerment

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government is set to launch a comprehensive skill development initiative for women beneficiaries of the Subhadra scheme, with the aim of enhancing employability, promoting entrepreneurship, and fostering long-term economic independence.

Announcing the initiative, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said the program will target women aged between 21 and 35 years who are enrolled under the Subhadra scheme. The initiative seeks to move beneficiaries beyond direct financial assistance by equipping them with market-relevant skills and sustainable livelihood opportunities.

Under the program, participants will receive customized training based on their existing abilities, interests, and local market demands. The training modules are expected to cover a range of sectors, including small business management, digital services, handicrafts, retail, food processing, and other employment-oriented trades.

The state government plans to implement the initiative in coordination with multiple departments to ensure effective delivery and wider outreach. Mobile skilling vans and cluster-based training centres will be deployed to reach women in rural and remote areas, making skill development opportunities more accessible.

Officials said that women who successfully complete the training programs will receive priority access to funding support, incubation facilities, and business development services. These measures are intended to help trainees establish enterprises, expand self-employment opportunities, and strengthen their participation in the state’s economy.

The initiative forms part of the Odisha Government’s broader vision of women-led development and economic empowerment. By combining financial support with skill enhancement and entrepreneurship opportunities, the government aims to create a pathway for sustainable income generation and greater financial self-reliance among Subhadra beneficiaries.

The program is expected to benefit thousands of women across the state and contribute significantly to Odisha’s efforts to promote inclusive growth and strengthen rural livelihoods.
