Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Ranked 4th Best University in India and 7th best Medical College in India: NIRF India Ranking 2020

Bhubaneswar : Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has emerged as the 4th best university in the country in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Ranking 2020 that has been released by the Government of India today. The University has also been ranked 7th among medical colleges in India.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham was once again ranked the top best university in India behind other well-established and prestigious public institutions such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi; and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. In 2019, AmritaVishwa Vidyapeetham was ranked the 8th best.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and the Vellore Institute of Technologyare the only two private engineering institutes to find a place in the Top 20 engineering institutesof India in NIRF Ranking 2020.

Amrita School of Medicine was ranked 7th best medical college in the county after All India Institute of Medical Sciences New Delhi, Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh; Christian Medical College, Vellore; National Institute of Mental Health & Neuro Sciences, Bengaluru; Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow;and Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. It is ahead of several prestigious institutionsin the NIRF Ranking 2020 like JIPMER Puducherry; Kasturba Medical College Manipal; and others.

Said Dr P Venkat Rangan, Vice Chancellor, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, “Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and its medical collegehave once again found a place in the Top 10 in the NIRF Ranking 2020. This is ample testimony to the vision of the world-renowned humanitarian leader and Chancellor, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi, in setting the dual goals of education for life and compassion-driven research. This stellar achievement would not have been possible without the tiring efforts put in by all the students and staff of the University, and I wish to express my sincere gratitude to the Government of India for bestowing this honour on us. I am happy with the consistency, year after year, in recognizing the academic excellence, outstanding faculty and world-class infrastructure that Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeethamis known for.”
