Bhubaneswar: Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Thursday reaffirmed the Centre’s commitment to strengthening Odisha’s school education system in line with the vision of ‘Samruddha Odisha’ (Developed Odisha) by 2036. He emphasised that the Narendra Modi-led government remains fully committed to supporting the state in transforming its education landscape and preparing future-ready generations.
Pradhan made the remarks after discussions with Odisha’s School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond, focusing on aligning the state’s educational priorities with national goals under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Taking to social media platform X, Pradhan said, “I assured Minister Nityananda ji that PM Narendra Modi ji’s government remains committed to fulfil Odisha’s educational priorities, transform the school education landscape and provide all support for translating the vision of a future-ready and Samruddha Odisha by 2036 into reality.”
Officials said the deliberations form part of sustained efforts to enhance Centre–state collaboration in the implementation of NEP 2020, with particular emphasis on curriculum reforms, digital learning integration, teacher capacity building, and inclusive education to ensure equitable access and quality learning outcomes.
Earlier in the day, the Union Education Minister also met Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to convey key aspirations and requirements of the education sector ahead of the Union Budget 2026–27. The discussions reportedly covered proposals aimed at transforming both school and higher education ecosystems, including infrastructure development, innovation, skilling, and research.
The Centre’s renewed assurance is expected to provide momentum to Odisha’s ongoing education reforms as the state charts a long-term roadmap towards holistic development by 2036.
