Cuttack Gears Up for ‘Dahibara Aludam Day’ on March 1

Bhubaneswar: The district administration is set to celebrate ‘Cuttack Dahibara Aludam Day’ on March 1 for the second consecutive year, honouring the city’s iconic street delicacy and its enduring cultural significance.

More than 50 popular vendors will set up stalls at the lower Baliyatra ground, serving authentic dahibara aludam in traditional style to thousands of food enthusiasts. The event is being positioned as both a culinary celebration and a cultural showcase.

Cuttack Collector Dattatraya Bhausaheb Shinde described the dish as “more than food — it is an emotion connected to Cuttack’s identity.” He said the initiative aims to promote the delicacy at the national level, boost tourism, and provide recognition and support to local vendors.

To enhance the festive atmosphere, organisers have planned cultural programmes and a dedicated selfie zone for visitors.

Pradip Behera, president of the Dahibara Aludam Association, welcomed the move, stating that such recognition encourages younger generations to preserve and carry forward the city’s culinary legacy.

The celebration reflects broader efforts to revive and highlight Cuttack’s rich food heritage while reinforcing its cultural prominence in the state.
