Ekamra Project to Be Completed by 2026–27 with Enhanced Budget and New Features

Bhubaneswar: The Ekamra Kshetra Amenities and Monuments Revival Action Plan, popularly known as the Ekamra Project, will be upgraded with new features and is targeted for completion by the 2026–27 financial year, the Odisha government has said.

Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan informed that the revised plan will include an interpretation centre and a grand statue of Lord Shiva, in addition to the existing components aimed at revitalising Bhubaneswar’s historic core and promoting spiritual tourism.

Bindusagar Lake, located near the Lingaraj Temple, will be redeveloped as a heritage lake, with efforts to improve its cultural ambience and visitor experience.

The project was originally conceived in 2019, with the foundation stone laid in 2023. It is now scheduled to be completed by March 2027 with a revised budget and a new executing agency after the earlier agency withdrew.

Officials said the upgraded Ekamra plan is expected to enhance Bhubaneswar’s heritage appeal and attract more domestic and international tourists.
