Bharuch, September 21, 2018: Emami Paper Mills Ltd(EPML) the paper & packaging board arm of the Emami Group of Companies, valued at around Rs. 60,000cr, expands its footprint in Gujarat by announcing the setting up of its new manufacturing plant. The foundation stone of Emami Paper’s greenfield multilayer packaging board project was formally laid by Shri Vijaybhai Rupani, the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Gujarat at Bharuch today. The project is the maiden venture of the Company in the State.
Shri RS Goenka, Joint Chairman, Emami Group, Shri Aditya V Agarwal, Director, Emami Group,and other Board of Directors of Emami Paper Mills Limited along with other dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Spread over a land area of around 103 Acres, in Saykha Industrial Area at Bharuch District in Gujarat, the upcoming multilayer coated packaging board manufacturing plant of EPML with a total capacity of 2.25 lac Tonnes Per Annum (TPA) and 18 MW Captive Power Plant will be set up at an investment of around Rs 1000 crs. in the first phase.In the second phase of the project, the Company will double its capacity with an equal additional investment towards installation of a new machine. The Project hasalready receivedthe necessary environment clearance from the Government of Gujarat.
Speaking on the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony, Shri Aditya V. Agarwal, Director, Emami Group said, “Emami Paper is the largest producer of Newsprint and one of the leading producers of Multilayer Packaging Board in India with a total production capacity of 3.35 lac TPA. With the setting up of the first phase of this greenfield project at Bharuch, Gujarat, the total production capacity of the Company will increase by another 2.25 lac TPA and generate an additional business turnover of around Rs. 1,000 crores. Keeping in view the high quality infrastructure and ease of doing business in Gujarat, we target to complete the first phase of the project by early 2020 and commence our commercial production in the first half of the same year. This project will play a key role in establishing Emami Paper Mills as one of the largest packaging board manufacturers in India. We are highly thankful to Government of Gujarat for speedy allotment of land and environment clearance of the project.”
Shri. P.S. Patwari, CEO, Emami Paper Mills Ltd said, “We are the largest newsprint manufacturer in India supplying newsprint to almost all leading dailies in the country. In 2015, we diversified into packaging board by setting up a state of the art plant at Balasore, Odisha. Currently, our total production capacity is 3.35 lac TPA which comprise 1.55 lac TPA of newsprint and writing-printing paper and 1.80 lac TPA of paperboard. With the growth of the consumer market in India, there has been a spurt of demand for high quality multilayer coated paper board in the country. With the completion of the first phase of the Bharuch plant, we expect to cater to this increasing demand as our total production capacity will go up to 5.60 lac TPA. The Company will be spending around 10 Crores in CER activities over the next five years in nearby villages for various projects of Health Improvement, Infrastructure Development, Drinking Water, Cleanliness, Plantation and Self Help Groups.”
The first phase of the EPML manufacturing plant at Bharuch will create direct employment for around 750+people while generating an additional indirect employment for about 2000 people in the ancillary industries and service organizations.In packaging material, Emami Paper Mills Ltd enjoys a strong client base of major consumer brands in the country.
