Bhubaneswar: Former Vice President of India Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu today inaugurated ‘Atal Van’, a newly developed eco-park at the Lok Seva Bhawan premises. The park has been named in honour of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, in recognition of his visionary leadership and lasting contribution to nation-building.
The inaugural programme was attended by Governor of Odisha Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati and First Lady Dr. Jayashree Kambhampati, Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly Smt. Surama Padhy, Deputy Chief Minister Smt. Pravati Parida, Deputy Speaker Shri Bhabani Shankar Bhoi, and Minister for Higher Education, Sports & Youth Services, and Odia Language, Literature & Culture Shri Suryabanshi Suraj, along with senior officials of the State Government.
Developed with an emphasis on environmental sustainability, Atal Van features native plant species, landscaped green spaces and eco-friendly infrastructure aimed at promoting biodiversity and environmental awareness. The park also serves as a tribute to the values and ideals of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, highlighting his contributions to inclusive development and good governance.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Venkaiah Naidu stressed the importance of expanding green spaces in urban areas and balancing development with environmental conservation. He noted that initiatives like Atal Van reinforce public commitment to sustainability while honouring national leaders who have shaped India’s progress.
The eco-park enhances the green landscape of the State Secretariat campus and is expected to provide a serene and sustainable environment for officials and visitors.
