Gandhi Shilpa Bazaar Showcases India’s Handcrafted Heritage at Ekamra Haat

Bhubaneswar: The Gandhi Shilpa Bazaar has begun at Bhubaneswar’s Ekamra Haat, celebrating India’s vibrant tradition of craftsmanship and creativity. The exhibition, which runs from November 11 to 16, has brought together artisans and small-scale entrepreneurs from across the country.

Though modest in scale, the fair offers a colourful range of metal crafts, wooden artefacts, handlooms, home décor items, and handicrafts, drawing steady crowds of shoppers and art enthusiasts. Each stall showcases the skill and passion of local and national artisans who have poured weeks of effort into creating unique, handmade pieces.

Visitors say the prices are reasonable, reflecting the labour and time-intensive nature of the craftsmanship. “Every product here tells a story — of tradition, patience, and artistry,” said one visitor browsing through the stalls.

The fair, organised under the Ministry of Textiles’ initiative to promote traditional artisans, aims to provide a marketing platform for rural craftsmen while encouraging sustainable handmade goods over mass-produced alternatives.
