Bhubaneswar: In politics, the size of the majority to form a government and the quality of governance are two different aspects. As to mention, the direction of the current government at the center could not achieve the number of seats as it was expected to be getting, the kind of governance it has delivered and is delivering from 2014 reflected in the kind of programs, policies, schemes that have been started in 2015, 2019 and so on. The GDP growth rate shows the governance is getting better with each consecutive term of the government.
So the size and number of seats that has been acquired in the 2024 elections and the reason behind not getting the expected numbers is a different discussion. But there has been no setback or dilution in the quality of the governance due to the Lok Sabha election results. The current ruling party, BJP, claims to be acquiring West Bengal and Bihar in the upcoming assembly elections in these two states like the other elections in Haryana, Delhi and Maharashtra. It seems like a trend that is being followed.
The BJP says the party is winning elections not because of any freebies but on the basis of their schemes, inclusive politics ( Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas) , good governance, the flourishing economy of the country and so on. These are the evident factors that bring BJP to the upfront not any negative connotations being propagated. The parties that prefer to do freebies politics should have won the elections in the above-mentioned states, as per BJP leader Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum.
The model that the government follows is a development model. The party at the center also gives free electricity ration, but there has to be a particular model to be followed by the beneficiaries. For example, when you get free electricity, you have to fix a solar panel on top of your house, get the subsidy under the scheme then the electricity will be produced from the solar panel, 300 units would be stored for your own consumption, the rest would be for a charging station, then recharge your EV. You still have more electricity .
The economy of the country is growing rapidly. The GDP of the country is 6.5. In this scenario it is irrelevant to say that the ruling party is winning elections only by using the agencies to their favour or doing freebies politics. The results are evident enough to express themselves rather than arguing on baseless allegations.
The petroleum and energy sector is a very heavy investment sector. In this sector you take decisions today and results will show after 4-5 years. So it is necessary to state the underperformance of the previous government in this sector.
