India–New Zealand Trade Deal Set for Signing; Major Boost for MSMEs

Bhubaneswar: India and New Zealand are set to sign a bilateral trade agreement today, with nearly 70% of Indian goods expected to receive duty-free access to the New Zealand market.

The agreement is poised to open significant export opportunities, particularly for MSME-driven sectors. Industries such as leather, handloom, and handicrafts—especially from Agra and across Uttar Pradesh—are likely to benefit from improved market access and reduced trade barriers.

The deal is expected to strengthen bilateral trade ties while providing a major push to traditional Indian industries by enhancing their global competitiveness.

By expanding export avenues and supporting small-scale producers, the agreement aligns with India’s broader strategy of boosting manufacturing, promoting local industries, and increasing participation in global value chains.
