J.D. Birla Institute hosted a Book Fair-cum-Sale, 2022

Kolkata:  The quality of any Institute can be judged by its library and the books that it holds. JDBI is constantly gearing up to achieve high standards in teaching and learning. The Library known as the ‘Learning Resource Centre’ of Management Department, J.D. Birla Institute hosted a book exhibition-cum-sale on 8th March, 2022 to create awareness among students, faculties and staff members about contemporary titles available. Renowned publication houses like PHI Learning, Sage, Vitasta, World Scientific and Rajkamal Prakashan and other well-known distributors participated and showcased their collections. The BBA departmental library has an amiable collection of over 18000 books, some well known databases and audio visual aids. The LRC is totally automated and the process of digitization is on said Prof. Deepali Singhee, Principal of the Institute. As a good practice, the LRC allows students and teachers to place requisition for books as per their needs and requirements.

The Book Fair was inaugurated by Major General VN Chaturvedi (Retd), Secretary General, Vidya Mandir Society. Dr. Sraboni Dutta, Dean (Management) and Prof. Deepali Singhee, Principal of the Institute along with the faculty members, staff and students of the college attended the fair. This Event provided students and staff with opportunity to browse, recommend titles for the library collection and purchase books at discounted rates. This endeavour is in sync with the famous saying by Mark Twain, “A person who won’t read has no advantage over one who can’t read”.
