Bhubaneswar: BJP MP Kangana Ranaut on Monday accused the Opposition of deliberately disrupting Parliament and obstructing legislative business, alleging that it was unwilling to allow the House to function.
Speaking to reporters on the Parliament premises, Ranaut claimed that Opposition parties continued to stall proceedings regardless of the significance of the issues being taken up for discussion.
Referring to the Examination Reforms Bill introduced in Parliament, the BJP MP alleged that Opposition members were refusing to support the proposed legislation and were attempting to prevent its passage.
Ranaut said the government was committed to bringing reforms through the Bill, while accusing the Opposition of creating repeated disruptions instead of participating in constructive debate.
The Opposition has maintained that its protests are aimed at raising issues of public importance and has defended its demand for discussions on matters it considers urgent.
