BHUBANESWAR: Odisha is set to host a major cinematic event this June with the proposed four-day Odisha International Film Festival (OIFF) across Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening international film culture, encouraging young filmmakers and creating a broader platform for Odia cinema and global creative collaboration.
According to officials, the Biju Patnaik Film and Television Institute of Odisha (BPFTIO) in Cuttack has been proposed as the main venue for the festival, while additional screenings and cultural programmes are expected to be organised at theatres and auditoriums in both cities.
The festival is expected to feature 13 feature films along with dedicated segments for short films, animation cinema and student filmmaking projects.
Apart from film screenings, OIFF will host masterclasses, workshops, seminars and panel discussions involving filmmakers, artists, students and cinema enthusiasts from different regions.
Officials believe the festival could emerge as a significant platform connecting Odisha’s expanding film ecosystem with national and international cinema communities while creating new opportunities for emerging creative talent.
The event will reportedly be jointly coordinated by the Odisha government, BPFTIO and the Odisha Film Development Corporation.
Authorities also expect the festival to contribute to cultural tourism and strengthen Odisha’s visibility in the national and global film landscape.
