Odisha Police on High Alert Ahead of Festive Period

Bhubaneswar: The decision to tighten security arrangements was announced by the Director General of Police (DGP) following a high-level review meeting at the State Police Headquarters. All district Superintendents of Police have been placed on high alert to ensure law and order during the upcoming festive period.

The Cyber Cell has been assigned round-the-clock monitoring of social media platforms to track rumours, misleading information, and inflammatory or provocative content that could disturb communal harmony. Officials said strict action will be taken against individuals found circulating objectionable or disruptive material online.

At the field level, authorities have been directed to install CCTV cameras at identified sensitive locations, enhance intelligence gathering mechanisms, and activate local peace committees to strengthen inter-community coordination. Preventive action against habitual offenders is also being undertaken to pre-empt potential disturbances.

Police officials stated that the objective is to maintain peace and ensure a safe and secure environment for citizens during the celebrations.
