Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will establish an Ambedkar Bhawan in Bhubaneswar to honour the legacy of B. R. Ambedkar, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced.
Highlighting the state’s commitment to inclusive development, the Chief Minister said that the welfare of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and backward communities remains central to the government’s agenda.
He noted that substantial budgetary allocations have been made for the upliftment of these communities, particularly in sectors such as education, healthcare, and livelihood generation.
The government has also taken steps to enhance reservation for SC and ST communities and extend benefits to Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBCs) in higher education.
In addition, welfare initiatives like the Mukhyamantri Annapurna Yojana are being implemented to strengthen food security and support vulnerable sections.
Officials said the proposed Ambedkar Bhawan will serve as a centre to commemorate Dr Ambedkar’s contributions while promoting awareness about social justice and equality.
