Odisha Withdraws Interest-Free EV Advance Scheme for Government Employees

Bhubaneswar: The Government of Odisha has decided to discontinue the interest-free advance facility offered to its employees for purchasing electric vehicles (EVs).

The scheme, which was introduced under the Odisha Electric Vehicle Policy 2021, will be withdrawn with effect from April 1, 2026, following a directive issued by the state Finance Department.

The interest-free advance was aimed at encouraging government employees to adopt eco-friendly transportation and support the state’s transition toward electric mobility. However, officials have not publicly detailed the reasons behind its discontinuation.

The move marks a shift in the state’s EV promotion strategy, even as broader efforts to boost electric vehicle adoption and sustainable transport continue across India.
