Bhubaneswar: The state government has commenced paddy procurement in 18 districts during the ongoing Kharif season, introducing an Aadhaar-based payment system to ensure direct, transparent, and secure transfer of funds to farmers.
According to official data, 2,71,318 farmers have sold their paddy at nearby mandis so far. Of these, payments have already been successfully credited to 1,85,820 farmers through the automated system.
The government has disbursed a total of ₹2,247.52 crore towards Minimum Support Price (MSP) and ₹693.51 crore as Input Assistance, taking the cumulative payout to over ₹2,900 crore. Payments are being processed through the P-PAS (Paddy Procurement Automation System) Portal, which integrates Aadhaar authentication to ensure that benefits reach only genuine farmers and are credited directly into their bank accounts.
Officials acknowledged that while the system has significantly improved efficiency and transparency, some payment transactions have failed. The primary reasons include bank account freezes, Aadhaar de-seeding, pending KYC verification, and bank accounts exceeding maximum transaction limits.
The government has initiated outreach to affected farmers to resolve these issues and facilitate the updating of Aadhaar linkage and KYC details at the earliest.
Farmers requiring assistance have been advised to contact the OSCSC Headquarters or dial the toll-free helpline number 1967 for support related to payment issues or procurement-related queries.
The state government reiterated its commitment to ensuring timely payments and smooth procurement operations during the Kharif marketing season.
