Shashi Tharoor Criticises Disruptions in Lok Sabha, Comments on No-Confidence Motion

Bhubaneswar: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Monday criticised the functioning of the Lok Sabha, alleging that the government and the Speaker were not interested in running the House.

“I came to speak on the Budget, but it looks like the government and the Lok Sabha Speaker are not interested in running the House. I will come again at 2 PM and try to speak in the House. The Finance Minister was not even sitting in the House; I think they knew that the House would be adjourned,” Tharoor told reporters.

Reacting to reports that the Opposition may move a no-confidence motion against Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Tharoor said the decision was not his to make. “It is not in my hands, you can ask the high command regarding this,” he added.

The remarks come amid continued disruptions in Parliament, with Opposition parties accusing the government of avoiding debate on key issues, while the ruling side has blamed the Opposition for stalling proceedings.
