Tourism and Hospitality Industry Flourishing in India

Bhubaneswar: BJP government is deeply committed to the development of tourism in India. Tourism and hospitality have a wider context like any other domain. Tourism more than diplomacy that connects any nation to the world. Tourism not only shapes the understanding of other counties but also determines our own image in the eyes of other countries.

India is paying an increasing amount of attention to the value of this cross cultural connect through tourism. The government of the country has urged to use the three Ts as a tool, which are Tourism, Technology and Trade as a benchmark for assessing our foreign relationships.

The PM also urges the Indian diaspora across the globe to bring their fiends along to India in their next visit. India is making sustained effort to make its culture and heritage more visible to the world. There are Indian additions almost every year to the UNESCO World Heritage list. The most recent addition is the Maratha Military Landscapes and before that was the Moidams of Assam. This list also includes Shantiniketan, Hoyasala Heritage, The Ramdara temple, Dholavira, Jaipur city, old Mumbai, Ahemadabad, Nalanda, Patan, the works of latherbosource, and the Kanchenjunga the greater Himalyan national park.

The intangible and cultural vibrance of India such as the celebration of Navrose, Gujurati garba dance, Durga puja, Kumbh Mela, Yoga, Holi, Deepavali celebrations and many more have been listed in the intangible cultural heritage as part of what India has to offer to the world and create greater tourism interest in itself.

The role of the creative world is very much crucial in harnessing the Indian culture, heritage and tourism in the global sphere. The army of creators, digital creators, content creators, bloggers, social media influencers have a fielding in this precess. When the WAVE summit took place in Mumbai this year, it was proved that how social media is one of the powerful force to promote tourism.

The wellness attraction of India such as the mainstreaming of Ayush traditional practices, the promotion of the International Day of Yoga, the launch of Mission Life, the popularization of Milletes have been continuously highlighted to promote tourism. Healing has been a mantra in India. So medical tourism has increased substantially.

The progression of tourism promotes national integration, spirit and national awareness. Tourism is an economic activity but its contribution to evoke and strengthen cultural pride in the country. The hosting of heritage and other tourism sites, the arrival of tourists is a regular reminder of the value of what they are living next to. As one of the oldest civilizations such a sentiment is key to our identity and self confidence. Domestic tourism demonstrates the richness, diversity and interconnectedness of our culture and traditions amongst Indians.

There are different ways to make tourism more memorable such as exposure to local practices of art, craft and skills. Intangible heritage is as valuable as historical or natural sites. The government scheme of one district one product (ODOP), the Viswakarma Initiatives which strengthens the traditional artisans and crafting and courage the revival of local customs and performing arts. In an era of globalization and urbanization traditions are often lost with time. By nurturing them, we can make Indian tourism more attractive.
