Bhubaneswar: Uttar Pradesh is set to establish India’s first National Cow Culture Museum in Mathura, aimed at showcasing the historical, cultural, and scientific significance of cows in Indian society.
The proposed museum will feature dedicated galleries on the role of cows in Indian traditions, agriculture, ecology, and rural livelihoods, highlighting how indigenous cattle breeds have sustained village economies for centuries.
A special permanent exhibition will focus on cow milk and dairy products such as curd, ghee, and cheese, explaining their nutritional and Ayurvedic importance through interactive and educational displays.
Officials said the museum is expected to emerge as a major educational and tourism hub, attracting scholars, researchers, students, and cultural enthusiasts to Mathura. The project also aims to strengthen awareness about indigenous breeds, sustainable farming practices, and India’s cultural heritage linked to cattle.
