Bhubaneswar: Odisha has exempted entrainment tax on 28 November from the Bollywood movie ‘The Sabarmati Report’, which is created on the topic of the 2002 Godhra train burning incident in Gujarat. This information has first been broken out by Mukesh Mahaling, Odisha Parliamentary Affairs Minister, in the Assembly.
As per the statement by the Chief minister of Odisha state The tax exemption will help the film to reach out more and more people and reveal the heart-wrenching truth of the incident by spreading public awareness.
Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi stated through the social media platforms X , ” People’s government in the state has decided to make the film ‘Sabarmati Report’ based on a true incident tax-free in Odisha. The film shows how ‘Karsevak’ were burnt alive in the Godhra fire to fulfill their own interests and create unrest. This film will bring to the people such a hair-raising, heart truth of the past and make the general public more aware”.
Odisha is the seventh BJP governed states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat that have exempted the entertainment tax on the film ‘The Sabarmati Report’.
Tge film is directed by Dheeraj Sarna and produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Amul V Mohan and Anshul Mohan. The film features Vibrant Messey, Raashii Khanna and Ridhi Dogra as lead casts.
By expressing her gratitude to the CM of Odisha and the state government for making the film tax free, producer of the film Ektaa R Kapoor posted on X, ” Heartfelt gratitude to Hon’ble Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi Ji and Government of Odisha for making #TheSabarmatiReport tax-free in the state. This support will help bring the truth of a significant chapter in our history to more people”.
