Bhubaneswar: Odisha has entered the next phase of its digital census exercise, with large-scale door-to-door data collection commencing across the state on Thursday.
Over 90,200 officials, including enumerators and 15,140 supervisors, have been deployed for the survey. Each enumerator is tasked with covering around 800 individuals across 200 to 220 households, collecting detailed demographic information through a structured questionnaire.
The field exercise follows the successful completion of the self-enumeration phase held between April 1 and 15, during which more than 1.76 lakh families submitted their data online using mobile devices—marking a significant step toward digital governance.
Officials said the current phase will focus on verifying submitted information, assessing housing data, and reconciling discrepancies through physical visits. Personnel from multiple departments, including teachers and administrative staff, have been mobilised for the operation.
Authorities have assured that all collected data will remain strictly confidential. The survey is scheduled to continue till May 15, covering households across Odisha.
