Bhubaneswar: The Indian Navy displayed its operational preparedness or capabilities on 4 December through a special exercise called ‘Operational Demonstration’ . This exercise showed many different types of naval operations like ships, submarines, aircraft, marine commandos and Indian Army personnel at Blue Flag Beach, in Puri, Odisha.
On the occasion of Navy Day this special show Operational Demonstration was organized by the Indian Navy. Navy Day is observed to commemorate Operation Trident, a very serious attack on Karachi harbour during the 1971 India-Pakistan war.
Honorable President Droupadi Murmu, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi and senior officials of the Central and Odisha government officials had graced the occasion. The Navy states that, the purpose of Op Demo to bring attention to the rich maritime history and to demonstrate the valour and courage of its personnel and their resolve to safeguard national maritime interests of Indian Navy “anytime, anywhere, anyhow”. The most attractive showcase was state-of-the-art ships and aircraft of the Indian Navy.
There were more than 15 warships, MiG 29K fighters and MH 60R helicopters participated in Op Demo along with combat beach reconnaissance by the Marine Commandos of the Navy, along with musical performances by the Naval band, Horn Pipe Dance by SCC Cadets and drills by Naval personnel was another attraction point in the exercise.
The event was brightened by the illumination of Navy ships at the anchorage, a laser and drone show at the beach. This was the second time that the Indian Navy had conducted a mega event at a location other than a major Naval Station.
