Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain fall brings flood like situation in Subarnarekha, Budhabalanga and Jalaka river in Balasore district. Hundreds of villages in the south Balasore district are affected and surrounded by flood water. Likewise in Jajpur district, the water level of the Baitarani river has increased upto danger level. In Bhadrak district, Akhuapada in Bhandaripokhari the flood water is touching danger point. According to IMD reports, the situation is going to be worse in the next 48 hours. Reportedly, two people have lost their lives in flood water in Balasore.
Due to this grim situation, there are 24/7 helpline activated for the people in every blocks. The district administration has been keeping a constant vigilance on the situation and the ODRAF and fire brigades are also deployed in the case of any emergency. The people in Baliapala, Bhogarai, Jaleswar blocks are in extreme traumatic situation. The district administration has arranged temporary shelters for the people from the lower areas. The health depaptment ahs provided free Halazone tablets, ORS and other necessary supplies to the people. Water tankers and drinking water bottles are also distributed.
