Bhubaneswar: Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling has highlighted the state’s move towards digital healthcare, including the use of digital prescriptions and secure online storage of medical records.
Mahaling said the initiative is being pursued under the broader digital-health framework associated with Aarogya Setu 2.0, which includes a “Scan and Share” facility. The system allows patients to digitally access, store and share prescriptions and other health records through digital lockers.
The proposed digital prescription system is also expected to help maintain records of medicines prescribed to patients, including antibiotics, potentially supporting more responsible antibiotic use and better continuity of care.
The Odisha government is preparing to launch a dedicated digital health application, with further details expected when the platform is formally introduced.
