Bhubaneswar: The Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign, which involves visiting government schools to highlight infrastructure and other shortcomings, has run into legal trouble in Maharashtra and Rajasthan.
In Latur, Maharashtra, police registered an FIR against CJP founder and convenor Abhijeet Dipke and others following a complaint by a teacher at a Zilla Parishad Urdu school in Jawali near Ausa. The complaint alleges that the group entered the school without permission, disrupted classes and threatened teachers. Police have registered the case under several provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation is underway.
In Jaipur, Rajasthan, a CJP team was allegedly attacked on August 21 while visiting a government primary school in Rampura-Kanwarpura as part of the campaign. The confrontation led to FIRs being registered in connection with the incident.
The campaign, launched on August 15, has expanded across several states, with CJP members documenting and raising concerns about the condition of government schools. The incidents in Latur and Jaipur have brought renewed attention to the tensions surrounding independent inspections of public schools.
