Pakistan’s War Mongering Against India

Bhubaneswar: There is competition going on in Pakistan on threatening India better. The Pakistani Army chief Asir Munir has set a very high standard over the last weekend by threatening the nuke would half the world. He also said blowing up dams in India. Now it is the turn of Pakistani politicians. First is Bilawal Bhutto, who is threatening to wage war against India over the Indus water.

India and Pakistan had a deal to share this water. But after the Pehalgam attack India suspended deal. New Delhi gave a clear message to Islamabad, ‘Blood and water will not flow together’. Bilawal Bhutto has a problem with that as he is urging Pakistanis to unite and take on India.

Bilawal Bhutto is the former foreign minister of Pakistan. He leads one of their biggest political parties. He is in coalition with the ruling party. Considering all of these aspects his tone of speaking about India does not fit as a wannabe prime minister of his country. Behind his statement there are two goals here. First is to rally his support base. His party is called the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). It rules a province of Sindh, Pakistan which is their core of their political support. In Sindh, water is a major issue. Water shortage was a problem even before the treaty suspended. The situation is even worse now. Bilawal is capitalizing on that plight. He is water to boost his image. Secondly, he is trying to please Munir.

Report says, Pakistan is targeting Indian diplomats in Islamabad by denying them basic utilities like cooking gas, water etc. At the High Commission the gas pipelines are empty. Reports says, supply has been cut off. Indian staff cannot find gas cylinders either. The official vendors have stopped selling to them. So the staff is turning to the open market to buy gas cylinders, news papers and water.

Pakistan is doing this petty retaliation. Pakistan has the history of targeting Indian diplomats like cutting off utilities, spying on the, tailing their cars whereas this is against international rules. The Geneva Convention says, ‘Host counties must protect foreign diplomats’. This is Pakistan whose Army Chief is threatening to nuke half the world. So it is no surprise for them to behave like this.

This war mongering could be a means of reestablishing the deterrence as it was shattered by India during ‘Operation Sindoor’. Indian missiles hit Pakistani bases at will so they trying to restore it by constantly threatening war. Secondly. Islamabad senses a diplomatic opening. Donald Trump is on their side. India’s ties with US has soured. So they are capitalizing on that.
