Bhubaneswar: This Diwali, India is not just glowing with lights and festivity — the economy, too, is dazzling. According to data released by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), Diwali 2025 sales have touched a record ₹6.05 lakh crore, marking one of the strongest festive seasons in the country’s trading history.
The report highlights that 87% of Indian consumers chose to buy locally made products, reflecting a massive boost to the government’s Vocal for Local and Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. The surge in demand across sectors — from electronics and apparel to home décor, jewellery, and automobiles — has created a wave of optimism among traders and manufacturers alike.
Experts attribute this growth to strong consumer confidence, rising disposable incomes, and the sentiment of supporting domestic industries.
“This year’s Diwali shopping has set a new benchmark. It shows the power of India’s consumers and their commitment to the nation’s economy,” said a senior CAIT representative.
With festive lights illuminating streets and markets bustling with activity, this Diwali has become a symbol of economic resilience, hope, and celebration for millions across India.
