Paradip Poised to Become Eastern India’s Growth Engine: CM Majhi Announces ₹40,000-Crore Green Hydrogen Hub

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is set to script a new industrial chapter with Paradip at its centre, as Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday unveiled plans to develop the port city into a critical industrial and logistics hub for eastern India. The announcement came alongside the launch of a ₹40,000-crore Green Hydrogen Hub, one of only three such projects approved under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.

The Green Hydrogen Hub, to be established in Paradip, will be developed with the support of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. It aims to position Odisha as a national leader in the clean energy transition, attracting allied industries, enabling renewable energy integration, and driving decarbonisation of port-based industries.

“Paradip Port will serve as the engine of growth for Odisha’s next industrial chapter,” CM Majhi said, outlining the state’s long-term economic vision under the ‘Vision 2036’ roadmap.

The Chief Minister also announced that new connectivity and port infrastructure, including a greenfield airport, will be developed to support industrial expansion, enhance trade efficiency, and strengthen Paradip’s role as a logistics gateway.

Officials said the initiative will not only boost employment and investment but also promote sustainable industrial practices, aligning with India’s broader net-zero goals. The hydrogen hub is expected to attract large-scale investments in green ammonia, clean fuels, and export-oriented industries.

With several major industrial projects already underway, including expansions in steel, petrochemicals, and energy, Paradip is fast emerging as the focal point of Odisha’s industrial resurgence.

As envisioned in the Vision 2036 blueprint, the twin focus on clean energy innovation and infrastructure connectivity will turn Paradip into one of India’s most significant industrial and maritime clusters — blending economic ambition with environmental responsibility.
