Bhubaneswar: Bhubaneswar is set to host the mega rural fair Sisir Saras–2026 from January 10 to January 18, bringing together artisans, weavers and self-help groups (SHGs) from Odisha and nearly 20 other states under one roof.
Organised by the Odisha Rural Development and Marketing Society (ORMAS) in collaboration with Mission Shakti, the fair aims to create a vibrant “Mini India Market” showcasing the country’s rich handicrafts, handlooms and indigenous products. A total of 340 sales stalls and 35 food stalls will be set up at the venue, offering visitors a diverse range of traditional artefacts and regional cuisines.
Apart from marketing opportunities, Sisir Saras–2026 will feature capacity-building workshops, live demonstrations and cultural programmes, providing a platform for knowledge exchange and promotion of rural entrepreneurship. The organisers are targeting business worth around ₹30 crore during the nine-day event.
The fair is expected to significantly boost rural livelihoods, strengthen SHG-led enterprises and reinforce the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative by connecting grassroots producers directly with urban consumers.
