Bhubaneswar: In a major push to enhance transparency and prevent land-related fraud, the Odisha government is set to introduce QR code–enabled land pattas for property transactions, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari announced.
Under the proposed system, the Record of Rights (RoR) will carry a unique QR code that can be scanned to instantly access verified land ownership details. This digital verification mechanism will help buyers, officials and financial institutions authenticate land records in real time, significantly reducing the risk of forged documents and fraudulent sales.
Officials said any suspicious transaction will trigger instant alerts to the Tehsildar and Revenue Inspector, enabling swift action against illegal dealings.
The state government will also conduct a comprehensive land survey to map government and private land holdings. A detailed database of land allotted by various departments and its current usage will be created to strengthen land governance and accountability.
The initiative, being implemented in collaboration with the Centre, is expected to modernise Odisha’s land administration system and improve investor and citizen confidence in property transactions.
