Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) is establishing two new waste processing facilities to strengthen solid waste management and promote sustainable recycling practices in the city.
A construction and demolition (C&D) waste processing plant will be set up at Pandra, with a processing capacity of five tonnes per day. The facility will convert debris into reusable construction materials such as bricks and paver blocks, reducing landfill burden and promoting circular economy practices.
Additionally, a green waste processing plant will be developed at Palasuni, where garden and organic waste will be converted into biomass briquettes. These briquettes will serve as alternative fuel for industries, supporting cleaner energy use.
Officials said the initiative aims to improve waste segregation, reduce dumping, and enhance resource recovery while supporting Bhubaneswar’s clean city and sustainability goals.
