India Achieves Record Seafood Exports Worth ₹72,000 Crore

Bhubaneswar: India’s seafood exports have reached an all-time high, touching nearly ₹72,000 crore in value, with export volumes rising to 19.32 lakh metric tonnes, according to official data.

The record performance highlights the growing global demand for Indian marine products and the continued expansion of the country’s seafood processing and export sector.

Frozen shrimp remained the largest contributor to export earnings, accounting for ₹47,973 crore of the total seafood exports. Industry officials said shrimp exports continue to dominate India’s marine trade due to strong international demand from major markets including the United States, China, Japan and European countries.

The achievement is being viewed as a significant boost for the fisheries and aquaculture sector, which supports millions of fishermen, shrimp farmers, processing workers and coastal communities across India.

Experts attribute the growth to increased aquaculture production, expansion of cold-chain infrastructure, improved quality standards and stronger global market access for Indian seafood products.

The rise in exports is also expected to strengthen India’s foreign exchange earnings and further position the country as one of the leading seafood exporters in the global market.
