Bhubaneswar: In a move to strengthen urban security, the Commissionerate Police has issued guidelines for the installation of IP-enabled CCTV cameras in apartment complexes across Bhubaneswar.
According to the directive, cameras will be installed at key entry and exit points of residential buildings, with data feeds integrated into the police control room for real-time monitoring. The police have sought active cooperation from Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) to implement the initiative effectively.
Officials said the step comes amid rising concerns over theft and loot incidents in the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. In 2024 alone, around 65 such cases have been registered, with 29 accused already arrested in connection with apartment-related crimes.
The move is aimed at enhancing surveillance, improving response time, and deterring criminal activities in residential areas.
Authorities stated that the initiative will play a crucial role in ensuring safer living environments, particularly in densely populated apartment clusters.
