Bhubaneswar: The Department of Fertilizers has reaffirmed that fertiliser availability in the country remains strong, stable, and well-managed, with supplies consistently exceeding current requirements.
According to Additional Secretary Aparna Sharma, there is no shortage of major fertilisers, and availability continues to remain significantly higher than demand across the country.
For the period from April 1 to April 26, 2026, data indicates a substantial surplus. Urea availability stood at 71.58 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) against a requirement of 18.17 LMT, while Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP) availability was recorded at 22.35 LMT compared to a requirement of 5.90 LMT.
Officials emphasised that the current stock position ensures uninterrupted supply for the agricultural sector, reinforcing fertiliser security and supporting ongoing farming activities nationwide.
