Fuel Sales Capped in Odisha to Curb Bulk Purchases by Industries

Bhubaneswar: Oil companies have introduced temporary limits on fuel sales across Odisha, directing petrol pump dealers to restrict petrol supply to 50 litres and high-speed diesel (HSD) to 500 litres per customer.

The move is aimed at preventing industries from purchasing diesel in bulk from retail outlets, which could disrupt availability for regular consumers. Officials have clarified that the restriction is a precautionary measure and not due to any shortage of fuel.

The All India Petroleum Dealers’ Association confirmed the directive, stating that the current fuel stock position in the country remains adequate. The association noted that the limits are intended to ensure equitable distribution and maintain uninterrupted supply for everyday users.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, emphasising that the step is meant to streamline distribution and avoid any potential imbalance in fuel availability at the retail level.
